Global Weirding

My son, Alex, is a meteorologist with Environment Canada in Gander, Newfoundland. Over the past month, Newfoundland has been hit by insane blizzards. Sustained winds of 60 mph and gusts to 100 mph. Apparently, every traffic light in St. Johns, the largest (and only) city in Newfoundland, was blown away. Alex said the winds got much stronger later in the storm (after video was taken). Alex grew up here in north Alabama and loved tornados. He, as do many meteorologists, channel a little of the Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore’s enthusiasm when reporting on a truly awful storm…
